On the morning of Friday, Feb. 5, a camera was discovered across from 540 Groton Rd., the entrance to Newport Materials.
According to Westford Director of Land Use Planning Chris Kluchman, the camera was placed there on behalf of the town and was taken down several hours later due to weather conditions.
Kluchman indicated that the camera was placed within the right of way and was set up due to the town’s ongoing interest related to the intersection of Groton Road and Commerce Way.
After being informed of the camera by Newport, Attorney Douglas Deschenes delivered a letter requesting additional information relating to the purpose of the camera.
The letter is available within the Board of Selectmen’s meeting packet for Feb. 9, which can be found on the document management system of the town’s website.
