The ugly mess on the Boston Road farmland should be cleaned up before we consider a new restaurant.  A number of people have told me that they would vote in favor of a restaurant on the Boston Road farmland because it would be an improvement over the existing unsightly conditions.  Surely the landowner, who is proposing the restaurant, understands that the eye-sore conditions promote yes-votes.  It’s certainly possible that the restaurateur is deliberately doing that to promote votes at Town Meeting.

But I don’t understand why our Selectmen are allowing it.  Everyone else on Boston Road is taking care of his or her property and taking pride in our lovely town center.  Everyone else repairs things that break, everyone but this one landowner.

I am asking our Selectmen to directly tell this landowner that these conditions are very objectionable to the people of Westford.   The landowner is currently asking the Selectmen to cooperate on a written agreement that would facilitate the construction of a restaurant.  This is a good time for the Selectmen to make it clear to him that his behavior is objectionable to those of us who live in Westford.  I hope others will join with me in asking the Selectmen to represent us in this way.
