Events coming up at Westford’s Roudenbush Community Center


Roudenbush“Grab a Glass,” a wine and craft beer tasting will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m. at the Roudenbush Community Center in Westford.  Enjoy tastings and learn about wines and craft beers from local wineries and vendors.  Experience food from local restaurants, games, raffles and a great night out!

The cost is $45 per ticket, and the proceeds will benefit the center. Visit www.roudenbush.org to purchase tickets.

Town Wide Yard Sale: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24. at Abbot Elementary School Lawn  25 Depot Street, and various homes in Westford, MA.  Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 25. See www.roudenbush.org  for addresses of home yard sales.

Kindermusik Young Child Semester 1 Ages 5 to 6: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 6 to Jan. 19.  Over the course of each 15 week session, children will explore rhythm and musical symbols, engage in activities that focus on singing and vocal development, and practice playing instruments like the glockenspiel, dulcimer, and recorder. Parents are invited to participate in the final 15 minutes of class.  Some instrument practice and home activities will be required. Materials are included. Cost $328/$325

Southern BBQ Stump Jumper Way: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. Participants will learn the right cuts of meat, sauces and seasonings to use when preparing world class wood-smoked barbecue. Memphis Style Spareribs, Carolina Style Pulled Pork and Texas Beef Brisket, barbecued poultry and side dishes. Feast included. Must register by Sept. 21.  Cost: $45/$42.

Cooking for Super Heroes Ages 4 to 8: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. Children can wear their favorite super hero costume to cook and bake everything worthy of a super hero. $5 activity fee payable to instructor at class. Cost: $30/$27.

Beginning Crochet: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 26 to Nov. 7.  Each week participants will explore a new stitch or technique and work on unique projects. Materials needed are G and H hooks, colored worsted weight yarn, scissors, pen and paper.  $78/$75.

Blind Tasting of Pinot Noir: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. Taste 5 of the finest examples of Pinot Noir from small boutique producers with a selection of fine cheeses and chocolate.  Participants will learn to rely on their own senses, experience and preferences to evaluate each wine. $28/$25.

Just Tamera and Me Ages 2.8 to 5 years, drop off class: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 5 to Oct. 26. The class will foster independence in a secure and loving environment before starting preschool or kindergarten with singing, making crafts, reading books and having fun. Two hour or new three hour sessions with “bring own lunch” option. $126/$123, 3 hours, $85/$82, 2 hours.
