The maximum number of seniors at Nashoba Valley Technical High School again qualified to receive the John & Abigail Adams Scholarship.
Fifty-two seniors — the most ever and representing 25 percent of the Class of 2016 (the maximum allowed by the state) — qualified for the award, which provides free undergraduate tuition to state colleges and universities to students who score in the Advanced category in either the Mathematics or English Language Arts section of the 10th-grade MCAS test, and in the Proficient or Advanced category in the other section.
In Westford, those students are Brett Ashford, Alexis Henrickson, Hunter Lyon, Annika Stratemeyer.
In addition, students must: have a combined MCAS score on those two assessments that ranks in the top 25 percent of their school district; be a permanent Massachusetts resident; be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen; enroll in a postsecondary institution full time in the first traditional academic semester after high-school graduation; and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
