Bids for widening the granite curbing at Boston Road and Lincoln Street came in higher than anticipated and will have to wait until spring to be completed, said traffic committee members.

The project would be the second step in an effort to slow traffic as it rounds Boston Road onto Lincoln Street during rush hour. A dozen white and reflective posts, purchased with a grant from Circle Health, were placed on Lincoln Street in August as a temporary solution. Once the curbing is brought out to the posts, the posts will be relocated elsewhere, say officials.

Until then, they remain, said Gail Flannery, co-chairman of the Town Center Traffic & Parking Committee.
