Westford Academy alumnus Cait Kelley recently launched the online boutique, the Vintage Detective. The start up entity is the outgrowth of almost a decade of experience working as a designer for L.L. Bean in Portland, Maine and an education in fashion design.

Kelley graduated from Westford Academy in 2001. Two years ago, at the age of 31, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“As you can imagine,” said Kelley, “that basically changed everything in my entire life.”

Kelley said she had a double mastectomy with reconstruction and chemotherapy.

“That left me feeling that life was not as long as I thought it was when I was in my 20s,” she said, “which actually really inspired me to take a close look at what I was doing, how I was spending my time.”

The WestfordCAT show features a few samples of the vintage garments that Kelley is selling.
