Caroline Hurley was named Student of the Month in October for athletics by Cheri Fisher, Varsity Field Hockey Coach.  Fisher stated “Caroline (Callie) is a tremendous student, a dedicated athlete, a fun, energetic person and a good friend.  I’ve known Callie since her freshman year when she showed up for field hockey tryouts and I had the pleasure of coaching her on the freshman team.  Callie was always a force; partly because she was so much taller than the other girls and partly because of her abounding energy.  Callie is a true team player- she just loves being part of a team and dedicating herself to becoming a better athlete.  She makes every practice fun and her good mood is always infectious.  This is her first season on the varsity field hockey team and she has earned herself a starting position on the defensive line this season.  I couldn’t imagine this season without Callie.

“Aside from being such a hard-working athlete, she is equally dedicated to the classroom.  She adds to the great dynamic of the class with her fun and friendly personality.  She works really hard to understand everything and be the best student she can (be).

I am constantly impressed with her work ethic on and off the field.  I am equally sad that she will be graduating and excited to see where she goes from here because she will make it amazing.”

Yusuf Buxamusa was named Student of the Month for November in the area of academics by Russ Coward, English 12 Honors teacher.  Coward stated: “Yusuf Buxamusa is an excellent student, one of the most diligent, responsible, and conscientious students I have encountered.  His work ethic is matched by his intellect; I can count on Yusuf to present interesting ideas in discussion and to argue perceptive opinions on essays and tests.  What is most outstanding to me is that Yusuf is so friendly and composed as he puts forth the utmost effort; his relaxed demeanor hides an intense drive for excellence.  He has already found the ability to put forth great effort while maintaining a sense of perspective.  He is someone who has excelled and who will definitely continue to excel in the years to come.”

Viviany Morales was named Student of the Month for November in the area of co-curricular by Zhenyan Li, Mandarin II Honors Teacher.  Li stated “Viviany is respectful, motivated, intelligent and hardworking. She has a strong interest in learning the Chinese language and culture. She is an excellent language student who is not afraid to challenge herself. She stood out as a talented and capable Chinese language learner amidst a particularly strong group of students. She has strong leadership skills and she always plays an important role in teamwork. During character competition in Chinese class, she helps the team to find the best strategies to win  national and even international level. She appreciates and respects different cultures and is very interested in learning them.  She participated Chinese class field trips to Chinese restaurants, museums and traditional holiday celebrations and she has also applied to go on the 2017 China Trip.”
