To help educate the community, Emerson Hospital is sponsoring a free public forum, Youth at Risk: The Opioid Epidemic in our Communities – An Evening about Prevention, Collaboration and Education on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m.  The forum will be held at the Blanchard Middle School, 14 West Street in Westford.

Participants will learn how prescription drug abuse and opioid addiction affects all members of the community; the facts about the disease of addiction; trends in the community; options for treatment; the realities of recovery; and how community prevention is a vital component of the solution.

Local prevention and treatment experts, people in recovery, law enforcement, and a family who has been impacted by opioid addiction will be speaking. The community forum is open to everyone – no reservations are required.  For questions and information, residents are asked to email: OpioidForum@emersonhosp.org.
