Starting on Monday, Feb. 6 all Children’s Storytimes and Children’s, Teen & Tween Book Clubs start up again. To refresh your memory re: the dates and start times of your child’s program, go to the Library’s home page and click on “Meeting Room Calendar” in the Horizontal Menu. All Children’s programs’ titles that are in red font are links that you can click on for pop-up windows with more detailed information on them. Please feel free to call the Children’s Dept. at 978-399- 2302 with your questions as well.
Teen & Tween Advisory Board Meeting: Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. Teens join the Library’s Teen and Tween Advisory Board and provide input for our Teen and Tween Summer Reading Program and support to the young adult librarian. No experience necessary, but you must be in grades 5-9 and live in Westford or your parent must be a member of the Friends of the Library. The meeting(s) will be held in the Children’s Story Hour Room.
Link to Literacy Student/Tutor Potluck Dinner: Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m: Are you interested in finding out more about Link to Literacy? The public is invited to meet current students and tutors! Come and join us for a fun and informational evening! Link to Literacy is a non-profit, volunteer run organization devoted to enabling adults who have joined us from other cultures to read, write, and speak American English more effectively. Training and materials are provided to tutors. Tutors work with their students at the Library. Click here for student and tutor applications. To pick up a tutor or student application or for more information, stop by or contact the Information Services department at 978-399- 2304. Currently, there is a need for additional tutors.
It’s almost here: The Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library Inc. February Book Sale: Friday, Feb. 10, Saturday, Feb. 11 and Sunday, Feb. 12. A Friends Members Only Sale will be held on Friday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A Friends membership (which may be purchased at the door) is necessary for attending the preview sale. The entire public is invited Saturday for an all-day sale, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the special half price extravaganza on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Approximately 95 percent of the books offered at these sales are donated by Westford residents. Please keep your book donations local by donating them to the library for the direct benefit of Westford residents. A collection box is located near the back door of the library making it possible to donate books around the clock.
