Westford Academy Freshman Garrett Jacobsmeier was on a mission to sell discount cards to local restaurants to raise money for his freshman baseball team.
So on the cold and wet day of annual Town Meeting, March 25, he hopped on his new bicycle and rode from Nabnasset Street to the Abbot School where about 900 voters were in attendance.
Jacobsmeier thought he’d make out ok, said his mother Ann, but he sold only one coupon that day. Half of all proceeds would go to the team’s needs, said Ann. No word yet on how much was raised by all three of the high school’s baseball teams, she said.
On April 10, the freshman team played its third game of the season against the Dracut Middies. Dracut won 3 to 2 in nine innings, according to a Twitter post.
