John Sturrock, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sturrock was named Student of the Month for Third Quarter. Rebecca Ingerslev, English 11 teacher, nominated him in the area of Academics. Ingerslev writes: “I would like to recommend John Sturrock for Academic student of the month. John has maintained an A+ average ranging in classes from English to trigonometry, while taking a very rigorous load his Junior year. In fact, year after year, his report card shows stellar grades. But even more importantly, he has taken more and more challenging classes as he realizes he can handle the difficulty. John is the definition of the vocabulary word “sedulous,” i.e., hard-working. Always modest, quiet, and respectful, John is a model scholar deserving of recognition.”

Brian Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carr was named Student of the Month for Third Quarter. George Arsenault, Electronics Music and Symphonic Band Honors Teacher, nominated him in the area of co-curricular. Arsenault writes: “Brian Carr defined the artistic process in third quarter by leading and collaborating with his peers in countless events and performances. In addition to exceptional performances, Brian played an essential role in organizing and executing ambitious student led initiatives to improve our performing arts program at Westford Academy. This spring, Brian has performed, or will perform in nearly every music ensemble at WA including: symphony orchestra; concert band; jazz band; marching band; his own student led jazz combo; and he plays an essential role in the pit orchestra for Spring Awakening.

Brian has shown not only adaptability in different musical styles and settings, but also tremendous facility on four different instruments (guitar, bass, saxophone, and clarinet). His dedication to the arts is an inspiration to his teachers and classmates alike. Brian’s efforts are a shining example of personal organization, professional intuition, and artistic integrity.”

He always seemed to be at his absolute best against the top teams, he had 40 saves against Xaverian, 36 against Andover, 39 against Central Catholic and an impressive 47 against Hingham.
