Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan released a statement on Oct. 12 announcing that an unidentified 50-year-old woman has died after a serious accident in the parking area of the Westford Market Basket at 6 Cornerstone Square.

The incident happened in the late morning.

According to Ryan, a preliminary investigation suggests that the woman was at the back of her motor vehicle in the Market Basket parking lot. “A second vehicle, while parking, struck the female’s car causing her vehicle to roll backwards pinning her underneath,” stated Ryan.

The driver of the other vehicle remained on the scene and no charges have been filed.

Ryan stated that family members are being notified.

The incident is under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Westford Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
