The Chinese Bible Church of Greater Lowell located in Chelmsford, Massachusetts has announced a building project partnership with the Mobile Baptist Builders, a Christian volunteer builder organization based in Mobile, Alabama.

From May 29 to June 9, over 140 volunteers from Alabama and other states will come to Chelmsford to help CBCGL in the framing construction of a new 19,000 square-foot building, which will include a 550-seat auditorium-style sanctuary, a cafeteria area, and a basketball-court size multifunction space.  The new building will allow CBCGL to share the teachings of Jesus Christ to a larger audience and to provide the Chelmsford neighborhood with an additional venue for community gatherings.

The Mobile Baptist Builders is an all-volunteer organization made up of Great Commission driven Christians who devote their personal vacation time to serve God through building projects. Each year, MBB selects a church and helps in the first unit of a building project, which typically includes framing, roofing, partitioning, and floor construction. By mobilizing a large team of volunteers, MBB completes the first unit typically in six working days.  For this building project at CBCGL, MBB will also partner with the Maryland Builders for Christ, another like-minded volunteer builder team scheduled to come in the last week of June. The two volunteer teams will collaborate with CMGC Building Corp, an 8(a) certified MBE/DDE general contractor, in this building project.

The MBB and MBFC volunteers are self-funded in travel and meal expenses.  The members of CBCGL support the volunteers through hosting and local transportation.  Almost 100 family units are involved in the volunteer support effort. As a predominately Chinese congregation, CBCGL members say they see this partnership as more than just an engineering endeavor, but also a cross-cultural testimony of their spiritual unity in Christ.

Schedule of Activities

Saturday, 6/2, first work day involving all volunteers

Sunday, 6/3, rest and combined Sunday worship service at McCarthy Middle School, 10-11:30 a.m.

Monday-Friday, 6/4-6/8, work days, with daily evening testimony sharing time, 7-8 p.m.
