Labor Day Hours: In observance of Labor Day the Library will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Library will re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

 New! J. V. Fletcher Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, Sept, 4 at 7 p.m.  the book club will meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. Exact days and the reading list can be found on the website and at the Information Desk. On Sept. 4 participants will discuss “American Fire: Love, Arson, and Life in a Vanishing Land,” by Monica Hess. Copies of the current selection are available at the Main Desk.  Registration is not required.

College Financial Aid Workshop: Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Financial coach T. Jack Wang will go over common questions such as how to save for college, options for paying, how to get more aid, and what factors are truly important. He’ll also be discussing how to avoid the unintentional mistakes that ruin the chances for aid. FREE! Interested residents can register through the Meeting Room calendar or by calling the Information Services Department at 978-399-2304.

 How Tax Reform will affect Small Businesses: Saturday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. Presenter and author Beth Logan will speak about Section 199A of the new tax law and how it specifically affects small businesses. For more information, residents are asked to contact Dina Kanabar at 978-399-2308 or dkanabar@westfordma.gov. This program is sponsored by the J.V. Fletcher Library’s Westford Job Seekers Network which meets weekly on Wednesdays from 2-4:30 p.m. FREE. Registration is not required.

Story Time and Book Club Online Registration: Monday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Although residents can always stop by and register in person, online registration for these popular programs starts Monday at 6:30 p.m. Book clubs are open to Westford residents and non-resident Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library. Book clubs are for grades kindergarten through grade 5 and meet once a month from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The Mini Masters Art Book Club is for children in grades 3, 4, and 5 and meets on Thursday afternoon a month. The Non-Fiction Book Club is for kids in grades 3 and 4 and meets once a month on Monday afternoon.

Preschool Concert with Miss Emily: Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 11:30 a.m. Parents’ Choice Award winner Emily Hall brings her catchy and upbeat music for a special back to school concert. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch and enjoy the fun on the back lawn. This free drop-in program is for all ages. Attendees are asked to bring a blanket and a picnic lunch and to eat before coming if it rains.
