Suspect in Acton Fatal Stabbing Charged with Murder

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Police Chief Richard Burrows have confirmed that Benjamin DiCristina, 25, of Acton, was charged with murder today in connection with the death of his father John DiCristina, 57, of Acton. The defendant is expected to be arraigned on the murder charge at his next scheduled hearing on October 25 in Concord District Court.

 John DiCristina died on Oct. 7 at Lahey Hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained during the alleged Oct. 4 altercation with his son, Benjamin DiCristina.

 Benjamin DiCristina was arraigned on Friday, Oct. 5 in Concord District Court on two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery and strangulation in connection with the alleged stabbing of his parents and a 28-year-old female on Oct. 4.

 The defendant is currently being held without bail and has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
