The peaches, nectarines and apricots on Hill Orchard are ripe and ready to be eaten. Meanwhile the apples and pears are growing.
The Hill Orchard farmstand is open this season, Thursdays through Mondays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We’re having a beautiful harvest of peaches right now,” said David Dumaresq, who farms about 100 acres in this region, including the town-owned Hill Orchard in Westford. “The nectarines, these are the first we’ve eaten this year, just today. The peaches are just starting. We finished picking the apricots last week…”
Residents can also join the orchard’s Community Supported Agriculture program. Summer shares are available now. According to Farmer Dave’s website, the weekly packed boxes contain tomatoes and cherry tomatoes, many types of lettuce, sweet corn, broccoli, kousa squash, rosita eggplant, romanesco and brussel sprouts.
A small summer share costs $288.25 for 11 deliveries. (Appropriate for one to two adults.)
The larger summer share costs 382.75 for 11 deliveries. (Appropriate for two to four adults.)
Farmer Dave’s offers a bakery share and a fruit share this season. The fall share will bring another mix of foods.
Apple picking begins in a few weeks.
