Holiday Hours:  The Library will be closed on Friday, Nov. 29. The Library will re-open on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m.

New Service – Author Alerts! :  Patrons can fill out this simple form to receive a text or email anytime an MVLC library orders a new title by a favorite author or performers.

Make & Take Mondays: Dec. 2 at 3:30 p.m. – Window Stars. Each Monday from 3:30  to 4:30 p.m. Teens and Tweens can participate in a variety of hands-on activities that include making fun, seasonal crafts and exploring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities. This is a FREE drop – in event for Teens and Tweens in Grades 5 to 12, registration is NOT required.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. The Adult Nonfiction Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. The Dec. 3 book discussion will be A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway. Copies are available at the Main Desk. No registration is required. Attendees are asked to bring suggestions for what to read in 2020.

Cookbook Club: Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. The Cookbook Club  meets on the third Thursday of the month. The December pick is Everyday Dorie: The Way I Cook by Dorie Greenspan. Copies are available for check out at the Main Desk. Patrons are asked to bring cookbook suggestions for 2020. No registration is required.

TWEEN OZOBOTS CLUB: Friday, Dec. 6 at 3:30 p.m.

Students can learn to code and explore with Ozobots: teeny, tiny robots with BIG possibilities. Monthly Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Grades 5-8. Residents can register here for this free program.

Lego® Club: Saturday, Dec. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. All creations will be displayed in the library until the next time the group meets. Free drop-in for ages 5 and up with parent or caregiver.

Knitting Group: Monday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.  The informal knitting group meets in the Mary Atwood Room on the second Monday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m. AND the fourth Monday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Club: Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton will be discussed. Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. Patrons are asked to bring your book suggestions for 2020. New members are always welcome. No registration required.

Victorian Christmas Traditions with Anne Barrett: Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. “Victoria Yule,” as portrayed by Anne Barrett, welcomes the audience into her parlor and shares her plans for the 1895 Christmas season. Learn the history of many Christmas traditions, passed down from “Grandmama and Grandpapa.” She’ll read Dickens, display toys and handmade gifts that her family will be exchanging around the Christmas tree, and in her clear soprano, sing songs of the season. Travel back in time to Christmas 1895 with this engaging performance. FREE. Patrons can register here or call 978-399-2304.

Advanced Snap Circuits and Takeaparts: Friday, Dec. 13 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. We have five exciting Snap Circuits kits to play with: RC Cars, Light, Motion, Arcade, and 3D Illumination. Patrons can register here. This free program is for children in grades 3 to 5.

Institute of Contemporary Art Pass: Dynamic exhibitions and a performance in a waterfront setting is offered. The Library Friends funded pass admits up to two people based on availability. Residents can check out the museum passes page on our website or call the Library for reservations.

Database of the Week – Consumer Reports Online  Connect from the Library or from Home (Enter your Westford Library card number and select Consumer Reports) Patrons can search 1000+ ratings, reviews, expert buying advice, product comparisons, consumer user reviews, and product video clips on everything from baby gear to SUVs.
