Curbside During Covid: Please place your Westford selections on hold through the online catalog. You will be notified when your order is ready for pick up and may come any time during our pick up hours. Curbside Pickup is available Monday-Friday from 10a.m.-4 p.m. Please do not come until you receive a notification that your order is ready. When you arrive, please call 978-399-2300 (due to heavy call usage, we have updated the number to one that rings at multiple desks) and a masked gloved staff member will place your order under the rear portico. We also ask that patrons arrive gloved and masked. If you have questions or need assistance placing your holds, please call us at 978-399-2300 or send us an email at westfordlibrary@westfordma.gov.

Item Returns: The rear book drop is open for returns. We ask that you wear a mask and gloves when returning your items. Returned items will be quarantined on carts for one week before they are checked in and removed from your account.

Extended Due Dates: All items checked out before quarantine have an extended due date of July 31.

Virtual Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m. Is truth stranger than fiction? Is it more entertaining? Find out in the Adult Nonfiction Book Club. We meet on the first Tuesday of Copies are available on Hoopla and Overdrive. We are currently meeting online. Email Charles Schweppe at cschweppe@westfordma.gov for details.

Job Seekers Virtual Meeting: Join us on July 8 from 3-4:30 p.m. for “Boosting Confidence During the Job Search” with Cheryl Landes. To attend a WJS Meeting, please email Dina Kanabar at dkanabar@westfordma.gov.  Attendees will receive a link to access the Zoom Meeting via email. Family concert with Steve Blunt: Wed. July 8 at 6:30 p.m. Library programs the old school way – Drive-in to our parking lot and tune your radio to listen to a fun concert with Steve. Wear your PJs and pack some snacks and enjoy the show from your (hopefully) air conditioned vehicle. Rain date is Thursday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m.. Space is limited to the first 50 cars (that is all we have for parking spaces.)

Virtual Marine Life in New England: Thursday, Jul. 9 at 7 p.m. Nature photographer Bob Michelson’s slideshow reveals the wide diversity and beautifully colored marine creatures that inhabit New England’s waters. Virtual Adult Book Club: Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. Interested in joining a lively book discussion group? Consider the J.V. Fletcher Library’s Adult Book Club. Our selections alternate from Fiction to Nonfiction each month. New members are always welcome! At our July 9th Zoom meeting, we’ll discuss The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai. Virtual Teen and Tween Book Club: Friday, July 10, 1-1:45 pm: Titles aimed at Grades 5+, 2-3 pm: Titles aimed at Grades 8+ This week we vote on the books that we will read all summer. Each week we talk about your favorite titles and play themed trivia and games. Registration Required. Visit westfordlibrary.org for details on how to register. Virtual Teen and Tween Writer’s Club: Tuesday, July 14 at 1 p.m. Do you like writing? How about drawing? Do you want to meet other people, learn new techniques, and talk ideas? At Writer’s Club we will hang out every week via the Library’s secure Zoom account. Each week will feature a theme such as: Short Stories, Journalling, Poetry, Zine Making, Comics, and more. Registration required. Grades 5 and up. 

Virtual Teen and Tween Meal in a Mug: Thursday, July 16 at 1 p.m. First, we learn to make a Personal Pizza in the microwave in just 5 minutes. Then we follow it up with a gooey chocolate cookie that’s easy as…pie! Ingredients list will be available when you register for the event. Grades 5 and up. 

Outdoor Family Concert with Rolie Polie Guacamole Band: Thursday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. LIVE, DRIVE IN. Rolie Polie Guacamole Band is coming ALL THE WAY FROM BROOKLYN N.Y! Drive-in to our parking lot and tune your AM radio to 1610 – WJVF Radio Still Serving You!. Wear your PJs and pack some snacks and enjoy the show from your (hopefully) air conditioned vehicle! Space is limited to the first 50 cars (that is all we have for parking spaces!!!).

Virtual Ukulele Strum Along: Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. Julie Stepanek returns for another strum along, this time on Zoom! Focusing on 2 and 3 chord songs, this program is for the beginner ukulele player who wants to practice and play music with others. Open to adults and teens. FREE! Virtual Monday Mystery Book Club: Monday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. Wake up your week with a stimulating book discussion! We meet on the fourth Monday of the month at 10:30 a.m. New members are always welcome. Our July 27 meeting will take place on Zoom. We’ll be discussing The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. Virtual New England Legends with Jeff Belanger: Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m. Gather ’round the virtual campfire with Jeff Belanger, one of New England’s premiere storytellers! New England Legends offers a tour of haunts, monsters, aliens, and weird history from our region. Based on Jeff’s popular weekly podcast and his Emmy-nominated television series. Museum Passes Update: In response to recommendation from public health officials and to facilitate social distancing, most museums and venues are limiting guest numbers; therefore some will not honor library passes or are requiring timed ticket reservations. For the most up to date information, please visit the venue’s website.

Children’s, Teens and Tweens, and Adult Summer Reading Programs: “Imagine Your Story” is the 2020 Summer Reading Program theme. Registration for all three is ongoing.

We will be using the READSquared program for Summer Reading registration and reading logging. You can download the READSquared app from your online App store, for free, to your remote device (phone or tablet) and you can also use this website:  http://westfordmareads.readsquared.com/ to register and log reading.

All of the Summer Reading Programs are sponsored by the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library, Inc. and are for Westford residents and non-resident members of the Friends. Imagine Your Story is also sponsored by the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
