Westford Health Director Jeff Stephens issues his guidelines for how to have a safe Halloween. Trick or Treaters have from 6 to 8 p.m. to ring doorbells.
“For people handing out candy, we’re asking that you not allow kids to reach directly into a communal bowl,” he said. Stephens suggested wrapping the candy individually or using tongs to hand it out.
Wear a mask, stay within your own group, leave 6 feet between yourself and others, he said.
“If you’re sick, if you’re quarantined, if you’re isolated, please don’t participate,” Stephens said.
One of the most important things, he said, is that people respect those who keep their lights off, signifying that they are not handing out goodies this year.
“I’m asking that everybody please be respectful of those who do not turn their lights on,” Stephens said.
