Westford Health Director Jeff Stephens talks with WestfordCAT’s Patty Stocker to offer ways in which Thanksgiving can be celebrated safely during the COVID-19 pandemic including a 10-person limit at gatherings.

“The state is asking everybody, and as a public health official, I am asking as many people to limit your gatherings when you can to try to make sure we minimize the spread,” Stephens said. “There is a real fear that we’ll see numbers spike up extraordinarily high in a couple of weeks after the holiday.”

Stephens also details the specifics on Governor Charlie Baker’s recent New Hampshire travel restrictions now that the state to our north has been deemed a high risk state by the Massachusetts Department of Health. “Does it mean that you can’t go grocery shopping?” Stephens said. “No, that’s not what it means.”

Proper food handling during a holiday that focuses mainly around a meal is also discussed.
