Holiday Hours: On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Eve, the Library will be closed for evening Curbside hours (6:30-8:30 p.m.).; we will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Friday, Nov. 27. The Library will resume Curbside Service on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Virtual Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tue., Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Email Charles Schweppe at [email protected] for Zoom details! We’ll discuss The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson. We’re ordering print copies again, and you can pick them up through our curbside pickup service. Please specify the book title and club name when you call. The digital audiobook is also available on Overdrive.

Virtual Adult Book Club: Thu., Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. We’ll discuss The Stars Are Fire by Anita Shreve. Copies are available for Curbside Pickup. Please request the book by title when you come to pick it up and tell the staff it is for the Library Adult Book Club. There are e-book and digital audiobook copies available to download from Overdrive.

Virtual Monday Mystery Book Club: Mon., Dec. 14 (two weeks early!) at 2:30 p.m. Email Sarah at [email protected] for details. Please note that we’re meeting two weeks early in December due to the holidays. We’ll be discussing The Lost Man by Jane Harper. Print copies are available at Main Desk, and can be picked up through our curbside service! You can also download the digital audiobook from Hoopla, and both the digital audiobook and ebook from Overdrive.

Virtual Holiday Pies with Liz Barbour: Thu., Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. A delicious holiday pie is one pie crust and one filling away! Liz Barbour of The Creative Feast will share her favorite pie dough recipe so students can recreate the perfect, flaky crust every time. Learn her favorite pie baking tools, ingredients, preparation methods, and how to prepare a delicious seasonal pie and folded tart. Liz will host this program on her Zoom account. Hoopla: Due to popular demand, Hoopla is bringing back their Bonus Borrows program for the month of November! Through Nov. 31st, when you download a Bonus Borrows title, it will not be debited against your monthly Hoopla borrows. Check out the Bonus Borrows collection on the app or at westfordlibrary.org today! What is Hoopla? Download e-books, audiobooks, music, comics, movies and tv shows. There are no waiting lists on Hoopla. Download 10 items per month. If you have questions about Hoopla, please contact the Information Desk at 978-399-2304.

Overdrive: Have you discovered our Overdrive collection? OverDrive is home to thousands of e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, and streaming videos! These are available to download for free with your MVLC library card, via the online catalog, the OverDrive web site, or the free OverDrive or Libby apps (available in the Play Store for Android devices and the App Store for iOS devices). Some of the current highlighted collections include; Homeschooling Resources for Kids and Teens, Native American History Month, Black Lives Matter, Always Available Magazines, and so much more! In-House Browsing Appointments: Appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The 11 a.m. hour is reserved for seniors and our high risk population. Each reservation is for one person. Only the middle floor of the Library is open, with displays throughout for browsing – please “JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!” as items handled but not checked out must be placed in quarantine. At this time, patrons under the age of 18 will be referred to the Browsing Tent for an outside appointment. Make an appointment via our Events Calendar (select a date and sign up under “Main Floor browsing) or call the Information Desk at 978-399-2304.

Curbside During Covid: Please place your selections on hold through the online catalog. You will be notified when your order is ready and you may come any time during our pick up hours. Inter-library delivery is now available, please expect longer delays than usual. Items received from other libraries will be quarantined for one week. Curbside Pickup is available Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Monday – Thursday 6:30-8:30 p.m. Please do not come until you receive a notification that your order is ready. When you arrive, please call 978-399-2300 (due to heavy call usage, we have updated the number to one that rings at multiple desks) and a masked staff member will place your order under the rear portico. “Book the Browsing Tent”: Are you looking for new titles for you and/or your family? Do you miss browsing the stacks of the Library? Look for the form on our website and submit it to schedule a time to come and browse the selections personally picked for you by our staff. The form will inquire about your reading tastes or you can simply have us “surprise you” with some staff recommendations. We will also offer “Book Bundles” for children and adults. Choose a category and we will supply with a “bundle” of books. One of our Library staff will meet you in the tent with personally curated titles just for you! Check the website for the form, submit it, and then a staff member will reach out to schedule your appointed time. Fifteen minute appointments will be available for individuals and thirty minute appointments for families. To comply with Covid-19 safety re-opening guidelines, only one individual or one family will be scheduled at a time in the tent. This service is available Monday – Friday from 10-4.   We can’t wait to see you under the tent! Per Governor Baker, masks are required.

“Laptop Loan on the Lawn”: Need to check your email or do some research? Perhaps you just want to spend some time catching up with friends and family on social media. You are now able to book up to thirty minutes on a laptop under a tent on our back lawn. Simply fill out the form on our website and a member of our Information Services staff will contact you to schedule a time. This service is available Monday – Friday from 10-4.   We can’t wait to see you under the tent! Per Governor Baker, masks are required.
