In its 11th year, state Rep. James Arciero’s annual Sun Santa/Toys For Tots event will be held a little differently. Instead of an indoor gala with gift baskets raffled off, silent auctions, and unwrapped toys dropped under the tree, Arciero will be holding a drive-thru event Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Abbot School, 25 Depot Street, Westford.
Attending will be U.S. Congresswoman Lori Trahan, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, state Sen. Ed Kennedy, members of the Westford Select Board, and Santa Claus.
The public is asked to bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to the US Marine Corp Honor Guard’s Toys for Tots program or they can choose to make out a check to the Sun Santa Fund which has assisted children and families in the greater Lowell area during the holiday season for the past 32 years. This will be a strictly drive-thru event where participants will not have to leave their cars to drop off their donations.
A second drive-thru event will be held at the Little Police Station located at 500 Great Road in Littleton from 1 to 3 p.m. also on Saturday, December 12.
