Westford native Sarah Fletcher has been named Executive Director of Westford Community Access TV, effective immediately.

Board President Kristi Bates announced Fletcher’s promotion, praising her for her leadership during a board upheaval last winter.

“Adjusting to a new board is a challenge in itself, and we were also in the middle of a pandemic,” stated Bates.

“Sarah shone as a positive, competent and caring leader during this difficult time. Sarah earned the respect of WestforCAT’s staff, board, volunteers and members,” Bates added.

Fletcher joined WestfordCAT as its membership outreach manager in 2015. Prior to that, she had been the executive director of the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce for a decade. From 2001 to 2005 she served as the Roudenbush Community Center’s Community Education Assistant Director.

Since taking over the reins at WestfordCAT, Fletcher has overseen staff in hybrid-work conditions, several remote and hybrid student internships, the successful streaming coverage of: two outdoor Town Meetings, the Westford class of 2020 graduation ceremony, fall sports and a live concert.

Fletcher is poised to launch a new website for the station, as one of her first significant acts of leadership and has initiated the upgrade of the channel program service which includes a new video on demand platform, live streaming to both the station’s channels and simultaneously to social media pages and closed captioning.

She will also continue critical activities to boost the station’s income and fundraising efforts.

“We have challenges ahead as we see our income from Comcast and Verizon slowing and over the top media producers such as Hulu and NetFlix attracting viewers away from traditional cable,” said Fletcher. “But we have a talented staff of skilled professionals and a high energy board with additional volunteers who are all working together to be the best community media center delivering news, shows and town government meeting coverage.”
