“Being fully vaccinated does not mean it’s a free-for-all and it does not mean you can throw the mask away and go off on your way and life is back to normal”, Westford Health Director Jeff Stephens tells WestfordCAT’s Patty Stocker. “The vaccine’s major job is to protect you from going to the hospital and keeping you from getting extremely ill. There are cases where people are still getting COVID that are vaccinated and the ones I read about and hear about are far less sick and may have dodged a bigger episode by being vaccinated.”

Stephens gives the latest news on COVID-19 including who is considered fully vaccinated and what the CDC recommends to do once they are. He also talks about the number of confirmed cases in town, where the next collaborative vaccination site opens, what businesses should know as the state moves into a new reopening phase at the month’s end, and how residents still need to remain vigilant.

Stephens encourages residents to contact the Westford Health Department at 978-692-5509 for more information.
