State Rep. James Arciero recently attended the inaugural Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremonies for Peter Bonenfant
Additionally, Eagle Scout candidates must plan and complete an extensive Eagle Scout project which consists of the coordination of materials, manpower, and the cooperation of many individuals to achieve the objective of the project. Such projects benefit community groups or civic organizations and represent service to society as well as a demonstration of the leadership required to be an Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle project, Bonenfant constructed two sitting benches at the dam along Nabnasset Lake. The benches provide a place for walkers to rest and are also great places to cast a line and enjoy an afternoon fishing.
Klostermann built an information kiosk at Grassy Pond in Westford. The goal was to inform visitors about different wildlife and vegetation that may be find while walking the trails. The Kiosk also provides a brief history of the area.
Finally, Brian Garner spearheaded the Tyngsborough Waterway Awareness Eagle Scout Project in the town of Tyngsborough to raise awareness of local rivers and brooks. Working with the Tyngsborough Conservation Committee and Highway Department, he combed through maps to identify waterway locations, raised funds, planned the logistics of transporting materials, and assembled volunteers. Ultimately, 34 “Protect Our Water” street signs were erected throughout the town.
As part of the ceremony, Arciero, also an Eagle Scout, presented Bonenfant, Garner and Klostermann with official citations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the auspicious occasion.
