The Westford Police Department has received several inquiries from residents about our Use of Force Policies and Reporting Requirements. In the interest of transparency and open dialogue, we have provided a link(s) to our current policies including the Westford Police Department Mission Statement, Use of Force, Use of Force Reporting and Prevention of Racial and Gender Profiling.
All policies are reviewed and updated with best practices and recommendations from both the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission on a regular basis. We recognize that additional information in our policies may be needed to help clarify and accurately reflect the training and practices of the Westford Police Department. Any updates will be posted on our Department website.
The Westford Police Department has been an accredited agency through the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission since 2005 and was awarded re-accreditation on June 4, 2020.
Receiving accreditation through the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission verifies the Westford Police Department meets the standards for best practices within the profession of policing.
We are committed to ethical policing, procedural justice, accountability and the responsible use of force and will continue to dedicate ourselves to providing the highest level of public safety to our community.”
