Round 2 of training is coming to a close for adults who are looking for a career change or seeking further training in the plumbing field. NCTI will offer Round 2 of Automotive Services training in September.

The Nashoba Career Training Institute at Nashoba Valley High School is finishing second round of training to prepare plumbers for the workforce.

In the spring, NCTI offered training in Automotive Services and Plumbing.

Massachusetts Regional Workforce Blueprints identify careers that are currently in high demand, as well as critical industries where the projected workforce need is greater than the supply of trained employees.

The goal of NCTI is to provide training for those who seek to gain or hone the skills needed to fill those critical positions.

After completing Round 1 of NCTI in the spring, participants have been hired by Haffner’s Energy, Mill Town Plumbing & Heating and Triangle Service Center.

“In cooperation with MassHire and our local business partners, this is a great program for adults seeking a more lucrative career change and even for recent graduates who finished high school amidst the pandemic and had little opportunity for employment or training in the past 18 months,” said Jobee O’Sullivan, Nashoba Tech’s Director of Postsecondary, Continuing and Community Education.

Round 2 of Plumbing, which ends Aug. 18, included 10 adults, ranging from high-school graduates to adults in mid-career, seeking new opportunities in the plumbing industry. Upon completing the 200-hour program, students will be seeking jobs as plumbing apprentices.

Round 2 of Automotive Services runs Sept. 14 through Nov. 20. The schedule of training is Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ten spots are available, and registration is open. The program includes 200 hours of training in industry-recognized certifications, including inspection, brakes, alignment, electrical, transmissions, engines and more.

To register, call Nashoba Tech at 978-692-4711, ext. 11157.
